With established offices in Didcot, Hemel Hempstead, Bristol and Cambridge, we are continuing to grow and are seeking a highly motivated and capable Land Surveyor to join our Geomatics team in Hemel Hempstead.

The role offers an excellent balance of field and office-based work, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial survey through to completion and deliverables.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, positive and enthusiastic surveyor with a strong technical approach, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

You will undertake a wide variety of surveying commissions, working both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and undertaking field surveys through to data processing, CAD production and preparation of final deliverables.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake land and measured surveys as directed by the Head of Department.
• Take responsibility for the accurate collection of survey data in the field.
• Process survey data and prepare drawings and models using appropriate software.
• Produce clear, accurate and professional survey deliverables to the required specification and programme.
• Maintain high standards of quality throughout the survey and production process.
• Maintain and care for survey equipment, ensuring it is appropriately calibrated and ready for use.
• Liaise with the Head of Department and wider project team throughout each commission.
• Support and mentor trainees and less experienced members of the surveying team where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider engineering, design and surveying disciplines.
• Contribute to the efficient delivery of projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Represent Glanville professionally when dealing with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Enhance and promote the reputation of Glanville Consultants through professional standards and high-quality project delivery.

Key Skills & Experience

• Be able to professionally represent the Company.
• You will have a proven track record in demonstrating a strong understanding of the wider engineering context of designs, drawings, and 3D models, while having awareness of structural engineering and building detailing.
• Proficient in computer aided drawing (CAD) and the use of AutoCAD, excellent understanding of the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the use of Revit in the production of buildings and structural designs.
• You will have experience in developing and assisting with the development of project CAD & BIM procedures and quality control. Awareness of UK Industry BIM, standards, protocols and procedures is ideal.
• Demonstrate an appreciation of commercial awareness in relation to cost-effective design solutions.
• Demonstrate an awareness of financial matters such as agreed fees and budget status and manage project costs accordingly.
• Self- motivated team player with excellent people skills.
• A HNC/HND qualification in civil/structural engineering or equivalent would be an advantage.
• An ability to speak clearly, confidently, professionally and convincingly on the telephone.
• An ability to write clear and concise e-mails, letters and reports, and a pride in delivering quality work.
