We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Flood Modeller with drainage experience to join our Civil Engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing, talented, friendly and collaborative team, working alongside senior management to support the continued growth and development of the Water and Environmental team across the business.
This role requires a proactive, self-starting individual with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects and develop client relationships. You will lead and deliver flood modelling, Flood Risk Assessments and sustainable drainage projects from conception through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency and client satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment while demonstrating the ability to work independently and take initiative. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio across multiple sectors and will enjoy the challenges provided by our wide-ranging client base and varied workload. Candidates must have a solid consultancy background in flood risk, drainage and water engineering.
Key Skills & Experience- Lead and deliver flood risk assessments (FRAs) and hydraulic modelling studies
- Develop and review models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, or InfoWorks ICM
- Interpret hydrological data and produce robust technical reports
- Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and deadlines are met
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Liaise with clients, regulators (e.g. Environment Agency), and stakeholders
- Contribute to business development, proposals, and client relationships
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or related field
- Strong experience in flood modelling and flood risk management
- Proficiency in key modelling software TUFLOW and Flood Modeller. Experience with using InfoWorks ICM.
- Solid understanding of UK flood risk policy and guidance
- Experience of preparing Flood Risk Assessments
- Experience of preparing Sustainable Drainage Schemes and drainage modelling software is desirable.
- Experience managing projects and client relationships
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
- Chartered status (CEng / CIWEM) or working towards is desirable
