We are a multi-discipline consultancy providing engineering, design and surveying expertise to the construction industry, offering professional advice through all stages of a project across all sectors. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Structural Engineering team for a Graduate Structural Engineer with a minimum of two years’ post‑graduate experience within a structural engineering consultancy, who is ready to progress into an Engineer‑level role. This position offers an excellent next step for someone looking to further develop their technical capability, take on greater design responsibility, and work towards chartership. The role is based in our Hemel Hempstead office.
Responsibilities
- Carry out structural designs in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Use industry software (e.g., Tekla and TEDDS)
- Work closely with architects, clients, subcontractors, and multi‑disciplinary teams
- Assist in project planning, coordination, and reporting
- Attend meetings and liaise with stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
Technical Development & Innovation
- Take the initiative in problem‑solving and providing design solutions
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and sustainability considerations
- Work towards Chartership (IStructE/ICE) with our support
Site Visits & Compliance
- Conduct site visits to assess projects and ensure adherence to design specifications
- Ensure projects comply with statutory requirements, including health and safety
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a structural consultancy
- Proficiency in structural design software and engineering principles
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- A proactive and self‑motivated approach to learning and development
- Design experience in common building materials
- Understanding of geotechnics and foundation design
- Ability to professionally represent the Company
- Competency in preparing structural designs across various materials
- Must hold a full UK Driving License
