The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Shift Manager, the OLL is employed to manage the overall effectiveness of an area of the Middlesbrough factory covering up to 2 functional areas or lines. They are accountable for the safety and wellbeing of their team and all aspects of food safety. Their core purpose is to achieve or exceed all functional area KPIs covering Safety, Quality, Cost and Efficiency. Nothing is so important that it can’t be done safely; the welfare of your colleagues is paramount and you must promote and support a safe working environment and foster a culture of “safety first”.

Job Summary

  • Developing housekeeping standards, task lists and auditing compliance to 5S standards
  • Identifying hazards in the workplace and reducing risk
  • Carrying out Risk assessments for all operations
  • Leading SEAT meeting to temperature check safety culture
  • Creating SOPs for all tasks and carrying out Operational work diagnosis to confirm and improve SOPs
  • Reviewing material usage using supporting systems (Yields, scan data & SAP)
  • Managing data accuracy
  • Interrogating data systems to share key points with Team and Leadership
  • Carrying out basic problem solving
  • Updating visual management systems
  • Managing and reviewing KPI's - OEE, CTP, Q, EHS, YIELD at meetings
  • Effecting 2 way communication
  • Deliver or facilitate training delivery to Line Teams based on agreed plans
  • Maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards
  • Managing Food safety standards
  • Supporting workplace organisation using 5S methodology
  • Training of team members in SOPs
  • Identifying skills gaps and confirming skills are available for production by managing the production rota for the line
  • Maintaining inventory protocols eg scanning, material control

Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Previous food industry experience preferred in an equivalent position
  • Enrolment or planned enrolment in further developmental qualification (eg ILM, NVQ)
  • Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills - Team player
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills
  • Numeracy and data management (inc use of Microsoft Office tools and SAP)
  • Enthusiasm and Energy – can do attitude
