Overview
The Commercial Director - UK will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Glanbia Performance Nutrition UK’s commercial success and long‑term growth ambition.
This role has full P&L ownership (~£90m NSV) and leads the end‑to‑end Commercial and Customer Strategy agenda, including Sales, Trade Strategy, Category and Shopper Marketing.
The business has grown at a rate of 20% since 2022, with a CAGR outlook of +10% through to 2030.
As a key member of the UK Leadership Team, the position is responsible for defining and executing a joined‑up commercial and trade strategy across all channels – Grocery, Convenience, E‑Commerce, Specialty and High Street – ensuring profitable, sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the UK Commercial, Trade and Customer Strategy, aligned to overall business objectives.
- Own and deliver the annual and long‑term commercial plan, integrating Sales, Trade Strategy, Category and RGM.
- Act as the senior leader for trade strategy within the UK, ensuring clear prioritisation of channels, customers, and investment.
- Shape and embed a shopper‑ and data‑led approach to commercial decision‑making across the organisation.
- Provide end‑to‑end leadership of the Customer Strategy function (Category, Trade Marketing, Shopper Marketing and RGM).
- Define and deliver a best‑in‑class Trade Strategy and RGM framework, optimising category partnerships with key customers to drive joint growth and category leadership.
- Oversee delivery of a fully integrated annual trade calendar, aligned to brand priorities and customer activation cycles.
- Lead the UK customer agenda across all channels, delivering channel‑specific growth strategies and building strong relationships with key retail partners.
- Ensure excellence in in‑market execution, including visibility, activation and point‑of‑purchase impact.
- Own and manage the UK Commercial P&L, delivering revenue, margin and market share growth while maintaining rigorous commercial discipline.
- Partner closely with Finance to embed performance tracking, forecasting and investment optimisation.
- Translate strategy into clear targets, KPIs and execution plans across all channels.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing commercial organisation (Sales + Customer Strategy teams), building best‑in‑class capability and a culture of accountability.
- Develop a strong talent pipeline and succession plan across the commercial function.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure aligned, integrated business plans and embed shopper, customer and trade insights into brand and innovation strategies.
- Act as a key connector across UK and global teams to drive alignment and best‑practice sharing.
Qualifications
- Proven commercial leadership experience within FMCG or Consumer Goods, with significant P&L ownership.
- Strong track record in Trade Strategy, Category Management, Trade Marketing and/or RGM.
- Demonstrated success in delivering profitable growth through customer and trade strategies.
- Deep understanding of the UK retail and channel landscape, including trade investment optimisation, pricing and promotional strategy.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and execution.
- Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop high‑performing teams at scale.
- Strategic and forward‑thinking, with a strong growth mindset.
