Main Purpose

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for operating, monitoring and maintenance of the assets associated with our operational sites involving water and effluent treatment. The Maintenance Engineer will carry out Planned Maintenance tasks as required and respond to reactive unplanned maintenance tasks should they arise, ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible. The role requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times. In addition, the engineer will work on the installation of maintenance projects on our sites. The maintenance engineer will also learn to operate service sites to check process performance and use of SCADA for monitoring alarms. The Maintenance Engineer will also be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer based system to record plant performance with experience in computer based plant maintenance systems. The Maintenance Engineer will assist in the development of the planned maintenance system, determining critical spares and seeking optimisation solutions to improve asset performance and supervising sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety and Environment
    • Work within the client and AOL HSE systems
    • Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within AOL
    • Understand the multi-skilled (EMI) maintenance function in order to complete basic and/or complex maintenance tasks and to work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
  • Financial
    • Ability to complete purchase requisitions and track costs.
  • People and Behaviour
    • Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other AOL staff
    • Undergo training as required

  • Operations and Maintenance
    • Identify faults, evaluate rectification measures and to make initial recommendations, in order to carry out basic and/or complex repairs.
    • Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the ETP on the site
    • Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition
    • Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices
    • To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
  • Customer
    • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, AOL and sub-contractor staff.
  • Risk Management
    • Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and AOL.

Knowledge & Experience

  • To be able to demonstrate previous work experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant.
  • Operational and maintenance knowledge of Effluent/Water treatment plants.
  • Recognised time served as a Maintenance Fitter / Engineer.
  • Experience of working directly with sub-contractors.
  • To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret advanced technical literature and engineering drawings to affect repairs of complex items of plant.
  • Ability and knowledge to complete basic and complex repairs and maintenance.
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to use Maintenance Management Systems

  • Recognised maintenance qualifications (for example NVQ)
