Position

To create technical drawings and plans using CAD software (Solidworks®) from concept to design solutions. Working closely with the Project Engineers and Engineering Director to ensure all drawings align with the project requirements and industry standards as well to the satisfaction of the Clients.

Accountability

  • Taking designs from concept into practical design solutions
  • Production of 3D model parts and assemblies using the latest Solidworks® software
  • Review customer specifications and translate into new designs
  • Generate and revise drawings where it is necessary to produce non-standard products to meet customer specification requirements
  • Action and amend Bill of Materials (BOM) using Aessop software
  • Action and amend manufacturing drawings
  • Ensure that all work under the control of the CAD Engineer Draughtsperson is completed to agreed scheduled target dates and within agreed manhour budgets.
  • To liaise with all relevant disciplines in the company as necessary on all aspects of drawing compliance
  • To identify and inform the relevant disciplines within the company of long lead items, specifying where necessary, and to liaise with purchasing and suppliers on special requirements
  • Take part in and contribute to design reviews of new and existing products
  • Actively work with colleagues to continuously improve the Company’s working practices
  • Work in a manner which protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to company business
  • To carry out ad hoc duties as and when required

Requirements

Experience

  • Good experience of using Solidworks® is essential
  • Sound educational background, minimum HNC mechanical engineering/draughting
  • Strong manufacturing/engineering background with the ability to convert verbal and written information into two- and three-dimensional drawings which will then be used for manufacturing heat exchangers, pressés, and process packages
  • Sound engineering and technical knowledge with an excellent appreciation of manufacturing methods and processes
  • Solid comprehension of engineering drawings and principles as well as a good understanding of the qualities of metals as well as other materials
