We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Heat Exchanger Technician to join our team in Aberdeen Altens or Washington. You will be based in the workshop with opportunity to work offshore/onsite. We will also consider a retainer contract for those not local to either.

Position Role Purpose

The Heat Exchanger Engineer is responsible for carrying out the inspection, maintenance, and refurbishment of heat exchangers across both client sites and workshop environments, depending on operational needs. Working as part of the wider Heat Exchanger (HTX) team, the role supports the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of projects in line with client requirements, industry standards, and Glacier Energy’s quality expectations.

Accountability

  • Strip down, Inspection and Reassembly of Heat Exchangers.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of Shell, Tube, and Plate Heat Exchangers, Motor Coolers, Fin Fans and Radiators.
  • Undertake Hydrotesting.
  • Flange Management – Manual and Hydraulic Torquing and Tension.
  • Tube Expansion and Plugging.

Requirements Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of repairing all types of Heat Exchangers.
  • Experience in Soldering, Braising Mechanical Fitting/Maintenance background.
  • Experience of major petrochemical/refinery shutdowns.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Willingness to work both onshore & offshore as and when required.
  • Experience of working on COMAH Tier 1 sites/Offshore Installations preferred.
  • TMJ 10, 18 and 19 certifications.
  • ECITB – CCNSG Safety Passport or IOSH Working Safely.
  • Offshore certification.
  • Recognised HSE qualification / IOSH.
