Our Mechanical Solutions division provides support to energy and industrial sectors globally, specialising in mechanical products and services including heat exchanger repair and refurbishment and onsite machining. We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Trainee Project Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen Altens.

Role Purpose

This role supports the coordination and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. It involves liaising with clients to clarify requirements, preparing project documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting compliance with QHSE processes. With a proactive and organised approach, the role helps drive effective communication and smooth execution of workshop and site-based operations.

Accountability

  • Support the coordination of company activities to ensure the on time, on budget and on quality delivery of projects in accordance with client’s requirements.
  • Fully ascertain, understand and address all customer requirements. Liaise with customers to question, clarify or develop their requirements.
  • Assist with the management and reporting of projects using the Company’s ERP system Aessop.
  • Help with the timely production of work orders, surveys, quality documentation and quotations.
  • Ensure that all work under their control is completed to agreed scheduled target dates.
  • Support the timely generation and submission of quotes and other relevant documents for client approval (tenders / work packs / method statements).
  • Work with Company QHSE, checking that all relevant certificates for all company equipment / third party hired equipment are checked, manifested and approved for site use.
  • Maintain and report weekly project updates.
  • Updating of Aessop as required for forward load and forecasting.
  • Update and issue current client reports on a weekly basis.
  • Work in a manner that protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
  • Work with colleagues to continuously improve the company’s working practices.
  • Maintenance of sales order and enquiry “promised dates” in Aessop to ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Attend appropriate meetings for reporting purposes when required.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR.

  • IT literate with specific experience using Microsoft Excel, Word programs & MSproject.
