We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Stockton-on-Tees.

Role Purpose

The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of fabrication projects, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and budget compliance. A key part of this role is facilitating strong relationships between clients and the workshop team to create a smooth project journey and enhance the company’s reputation and brand experience.

Accountability

  • Promote zero-harm behaviours and eliminate LTIs.
  • Lead multi-discipline projects from order to completion, including invoicing and after-market support.
  • Define scope, programme, and change management processes from sales handover.
  • Prepare and execute the Project Execution Plan and Manufacturing Strategy in line with company and client requirements.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplined teams, recruiting as required.
  • Manage engineering, procurement, manufacturing, operations, and site activities to meet specifications, schedules, and legal obligations.
  • Optimise deliverables, equipment, and services for cost-effective completion.
  • Monitor financial performance, control changes, and mitigate risks or claims.
  • Oversee invoicing, payment follow-up, and cash flow alignment.
  • Maintain accurate project programmes, reports, and communication schedules.
  • Support subcontracted services (e.g. machining, painting, inspection).
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular updates.
  • Contribute to business development, marketing, and proposals.
  • Apply company QHSE policies, business procedures, and project management best practices.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and financial understanding, including P&L.
  • Assess and manage technical, contractual, and project risks effectively.
  • Adapt to and control changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience & Qualifications

  • IT literate with specific experience using Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint programs.
  • Experience in a structural steel environment highly beneficial.
  • HNC in technical Engineering subject or relevant industry experience.
  • Delivery of projects with successful adherence to health, safety & environmental targets in a highly regulated industry.
  • A proven track record in successfully executing multi-disciplined projects from inception through to completion.
  • Significant time spent in the negotiation and control of external equipment, services suppliers and contractors.
  • Proven man-management experience of successfully managing multi-disciplined teams in a technical engineering environment.
  • Consistent achievement/improvement of project financial targets.
