Role Purpose
Design and develop engineering solutions from concept to manufacture, producing 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor. Working closely with customers, sales, and production, you'll ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and delivered to quality standards while supporting continuous improvement and business objectives.
Position
- Taking designs from concept into practical design solutions.
- Production of 3D model parts and assemblies using the latest Autodesk Inventor software.
- Review customer specifications and translate into new designs.
- Create detail manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
- Update ERP system with drawing and bills of materials.
- Reverse engineering of parts and assemblies.
- Support the design and production of all manufacturing parts, drawings and documentation.
- Self-check work prior to submission.
- To liaise with all relevant disciplines in the company as necessary.
- Liaise with sales and production.
- Support the achievement of business KPIs.
- Take part in and contribute to design reviews of new and existing products.
- Actively work with colleagues to continuously improve the Company’s working practices.
- Work in a manner which protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to company business.
- The job role may include other reasonable duties/ tasks.
Requirements
- Competent user of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Use of geometric tolerances and surface finishes.
- Experience using an ERP software preferred.
- Understanding of measuring tools and methods.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 requirements.
- Manufacturing/engineering background.
- Appreciation of manufacturing methods and processes.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
- Strong problem-solving ability coupled with a desire to come up with good practical solutions.
- Excellent communication, numeracy and IT skills.
- Capable of delivering quality work to tight deadline with the minimum of supervision.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
- Team and goal orientated.
- Sound educational background, minimum HNC mechanical engineering/ draughting.
