We are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Executive to join our global sales team within a fast-growing life sciences consultancy. This is a client-facing, commercial role focused on generating new business opportunities, setting high-quality appointments across the UK and Europe, and supporting the full sales lifecycle for both new and existing clients. You'll thrive in G&L's fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including delivery, resourcing, marketing, and senior technical teams.
The Role Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation & Prospecting
- Proactively engage medium and large life sciences organisations via phone, LinkedIn, and email to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
- Monitor industry activity (e.g. mergers & acquisitions, divestments, redundancies, offshoring) to identify emerging sales opportunities and market demand.
- Appointment Setting & Client Engagement
- Deliver high volumes of targeted outbound outreach to generate qualified technical consultations and client meetings for senior technical colleagues.
- Work closely with Account Ownership teams to grow and expand our client exposure.
- Act as a professional first point of contact, representing the business and its expertise.
- Meet and work towards individual & team monthly KPI targets in line with business objectives.
- Provide end-to-end sales support including qualification, objection handling, follow-up, negotiation, and closing activities.
- Support opportunities across the full client lifecycle.
- CRM & Market Insights
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Salesforce across the full sales process.
- Use LinkedIn and industry databases to research prospects, build target lists, and track competitor and market trends.
- Contribute to achieving annual revenue and activity targets.
- Marketing & Brand Collaboration
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure business development activity aligns with ongoing campaigns.
- Share client feedback to support thought leadership, content development, and brand positioning.
Requirements Skills & Experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills at all levels of a client organisation.
- Proven ability to conduct proactive outreach and generate qualified meetings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable making outbound calls and engaging professionally via email and LinkedIn.
- Highly organised with strong time management and follow-up discipline.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded.
- Able to work effectively within a global, cross-functional team.

- 1-2 years experience in an outbound sales environment, ideally in the life sciences sector.
- Proactive self-starter with a results-driven mindset.
- Confident engaging with scientific, technical, and commercial stakeholders.

- Professional, credible communicator with strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in English; additional languages (Spanish or German) are a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Business Analytics, or Business Management.
