Our client is a global technology services provider specialising in mission-critical IT infrastructure for some of the world’s most complex and high-profile organisations. We're currently seeking an experienced Platform Architect with deep expertise in mainframe systems to join their UK architecture team.
This is a unique opportunity to work on large-scale infrastructure transformation programmes, helping enterprise clients modernise their legacy environments, improve resilience, and integrate with cloud-native technologies.
As a Platform Architect, you'll be responsible for shaping and guiding the architecture of z/OS-based platforms across multiple client engagements. You'll play a senior role in platform strategy, design, and governance, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned to evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Define end-to-end architecture strategies for enterprise mainframe platforms (z/OS, CICS, DB2, MQ, RACF).
- Lead platform design and integration with distributed/cloud systems using modern APIs and messaging frameworks.
- Act as the technical SME for all things mainframe, providing leadership across engineering and delivery teams.
- Support architectural governance and ensure alignment with compliance, risk, and security standards.
- Collaborate with both internal teams and external clients to translate business requirements into robust infrastructure solutions.
- Background in large-scale mainframe environments (z/OS, CICS, DB2, RACF, IMS, MQ).
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture or platform leadership roles.
- Proven ability to integrate mainframe platforms with modern cloud/distributed architectures.
- Deep understanding of mainframe performance, availability, security, and resilience.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, both technical and non-technical.
