Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician with ideally (but not essential) specialist knowledge and experience in industrial paints and coatings, to join our busy team here in our East Cowes facility. Previous experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry would be preferred, but applications from people with experience in similar industries (marine, automotive etc.) will be equally welcomed. We will also welcome applications from those looking to begin a career in Materials Engineering and we can offer training, education and mentoring as a career kick start.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation of Materials and Process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production.
  • Deploying these processes with a high degree of process capability, utilising the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
  • Technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
  • Resolving issues pertaining to vendor quality.
  • Providing specialist knowledge to production activities, with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality, and the reduction of non-conforming parts.
  • Monitoring of production by both test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation, and control.
  • Supporting the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing process that meets all the requirements.

Job Qualifications

Suitable candidates must be able to demonstrate:

ESSENTIAL

  • Some previous experience working within the Aerospace (or similar) Manufacturing Industry
  • A good standard of education in an Engineering related subject (Materials Science qualifications would be ideal, but not essential)
  • A demonstrable desire and ability to learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write reports and make presentations
  • Proven ability to work and to deliver under own initiative
  • Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding of sprayed coatings, such as paints, although other similar coatings would be considered.
  • Ability to create technical documents.
  • Experience in the review and development of manufacturing methods.
  • Experience of lab-based materials testing.
  • Experience or working within an ISO9001 or NADCAP environment.
