Following recent investment in our data capability, we are expanding our team at our thriving East Cowes facility – the Business Data Analysts (BDA) will be responsible for collecting, organising, and interpreting data, as well as designing, developing and improving data tools and processes to support the effective management of the Operations Function. They will work with data from business systems, including ERP, using Power BI, Excel, programming languages and visualisation techniques to develop analytical solutions, generate insights and support decision‑making across the operation. In addition to data tool development, the BDA will also have responsibility for regular review and extraction of data from business systems to analyse and present standard Operational Reports, KPIs and analyse trends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement tools that structure and visualise system data to enable other operational stakeholders to make effective decisions.
  • Maintain and update tools in response to user feedback and business changes.
  • Develop and document operational data infrastructure, including data sources, governance and query structures.
  • Review and analysis of Operational performance data to support business development.
  • Preparation of regular analytical reports and presentations to support management review and audit requirements, including hours management, productivity, delivery, quality, cost, OEE and tier board data.
  • Support ad‑hoc data requirements and analyses, for example supporting Project KPIs or in support of problem‑solving projects.
  • Identify anomalous data and assist data owners to improve accuracy, for example through more robust data validation or updated business processes.
  • Apply PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach, use A3 problem‑solving tools appropriately in case of deviation to plan to ensure successful project delivery and sustainability.
  • Ensure that data management, governance, and master data quality are maintained in conjunction with other functional data owners to ensure functional master data integrity across the operation of financial systems is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements.
  • Identify areas for data quality improvements and help to resolve data quality problems.

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role, including development of data architecture and document data with data map flow, data modelling, data quality etc.
  • A curious and questioning problem‑solving mindset, with the ability to challenge data and assumptions.
  • Ability to create insightful reports and presentations, using tools such as Power BI.
  • Ability to analyse data and suggest process improvements.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft PowerQuery, either in Excel or Power BI, would be highly desirable.
  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
  • A degree in a STEM subject, or equivalent experience in analytical or technical problem solving would be advantageous.
