At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
As a Machinist reporting to the Team Leader at GKN Aerospace, you will be joining a small team where you will work collectively to create a Great Place to Work environment through a culture of continuous improvement and a safe working ambience. Successful applicants will work through our agency partner Morson on a temporary/on-going basis with rates of pay as below:
- Core Day whilst training: £19.40 per hour
- £26.77 PAYE per hour standard Nights, any overtime paid at the following:
- Sunday to Friday overtime paid at £30.65 per hour
- Saturday overtime paid at £34.14 per hour
- When Stamp Obtained (usually after 12 weeks) standard rate increases to £27.86 per hour, any overtime paid at the following:
- Overtime Sunday to Friday £31.90 per hour
- Saturday Overtime £35.53 per hour
How You'll Contribute:
- Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis
- Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
- Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
- Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
- Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
- Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
- Management of machine stoppages with maintenance and escalation as required
- Completion of Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)
- Management of 5S within area ie. tooling, work set station and general area
- Champion ‘Export Control’ compliance activities, ensuring you and where applicable, members of your team, adhere to the site ‘Technology Control Plan (TCP)’, guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulations, controls, training and systems
- Health and Safety Requirements Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities
- Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company’s procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions
- Responsible for keeping machines tidy and maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area
