We have a new exciting and career defining opportunity for a Senior Engineer - Manufacturing & Assembly to join our growing Hydrogen Systems Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the green revolution in aviation, a project that aligns with our company mission, "To be the most Trusted and Sustainable Partner in the Sky". Reporting to the Principal Research Engineer for Design, you will be responsible for managing a running BOM with a Plan for Every Part; defining the manufacturing build plans and supporting the design development (in collaboration with supply chain specialists) for the best route to realisation. This role will be based at our Bristol GTC, however travel will be expected including occasional international.
How You’ll Contribute
This is a multi-discipline role responsible for leading the manufacturing definition and execution of the Cryogenic Power distribution system demonstrator. You will be expected to support the team with the development of the manufacturing engineering definitions aligned to product design using best practice in assembly, manufacturing and the capability of the identified supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Working with the programme and engineering specialists to identify and plan the production & prototyping activities
- Leveraging relationships within the team to ensure the BoM has a Plan for Every Part and that appropriate governance around MRL and manufacturing buy-in is undertaken to ensure smooth delivery of product for testing
- Codifying the processes defined and developed within the programmes
- Liaising with suppliers to capture their best manufacturing approach and influencing the design to support the programme needs
- Using MBD to modernise the concurrent engineering lifecycle to be more Model Based Engineering compliant
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master Degree in relevant engineering discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant experience gained within manufacturing, ME or technical supply chain development
- Able to write manufacturing specifications, understand GD&T and detail drawings
- Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes
- Experience in weights accountancy and mass balance calculations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills including technical report writing
- Catia V5 conversant (or similar CAD package) with PDLM Knowledge
Desirable
- APQP level of Process control understanding
- Experience in PO & contract writing/comprehension
- BoM management and supplier data management experience
- Familiarity with cryogenic design standards and processes
- Experience in developing MBSE methodologies and Engineering tools
- Practical hands on type with ability to be agile and dynamic as the situation requires
