Overview
Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician with specialist knowledge and experience in industrial paints and coatings, to join our busy team here in our East Cowes facility.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the implementation of Materials and Process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production.
- Deploying these processes with a high degree of process capability, utilising the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
- Technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
- Resolving issues pertaining to vendor quality.
- Providing specialist knowledge to production activities, with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality, and the reduction of non-conforming parts.
- Monitoring of production by both test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation, and control.
- Supporting the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing process that meets all the requirements.
- Creation of technical documents and report writing, predominantly in the area of paints and coatings.
- Previous experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry would be preferred, but applications from people with solid experience in similar industries (marine, automotive etc.) will be equally welcomed.
- Understanding of sprayed coatings, such as paints, although other similar coatings would be considered.
Qualifications
- Materials Science and Engineering background (qualifications and work experience) with experience in pre-treatments and coating applications on metallic and composite materials.
- Experience of lab based materials testing.
- Experience or working with an ISO9001 or NADCAP environment.
- Proven ability to work and to deliver under own initiative.
- Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
Desirable
- Review and development of manufacture methods.
- Experience of lab based materials testing.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
