Based in our thriving East Cowes facilities, the Buyer reports to the Procurement Operations Manager and will oversee local commercial management and non‑strategic sourcing within their geographical area.
The role includes requesting, reviewing quotes, and placing orders, maintaining supplier relationships, managing contract modifications, ensuring competitive pricing in line with the aerospace commodity strategy, and handling supplier delivery until the first aircraft installation (FAI).
Responsibilities
- Provide procurement activity reporting and site reviews for the geographical area.
- Act as the interface between programme and commodity management for new sourcing and change programmes.
- Support commodity managers for region supplier selection, RFQ/RFP using E‑Sourcing tools.
- Handle parts/supplier transfers and industrialisation through to FAI.
- Drive implementation of global and regional agreements within the geographic area.
- Ensure all purchase order demands meet cost, quality and delivery objectives.
- Manage site procurement change control, export control and ITAR compliance.
- Maintain site bill of materials (BOM) integrity and update item/contract data.
- Flow down enabled customer materials, pricing and forecasts to suppliers.
- Develop and support site cost‑reduction opportunities and supplier development plans.
- Assess supplier risk using readiness templates and financial data from Dunn & Bradstreet.
- Manage raw material inventory levels for purchase‑order parts in line with programme targets.
- Resolve invoice queries related to pricing and act as an escalation point for cost/contract issues.
Qualifications
- Significant, broad procurement experience, preferably within a large manufacturing organization; aerospace experience preferred.
- Strong relationship‑building skills, confidence, gravitas and maturity.
- Ability to think independently and make decisions.
- Formal procurement qualifications are preferred.
