Job Summary: Paint Sprayer – Western Approach site, a centre of excellence in composite wing structure design and production. The role is part of the W51 team and involves spraying composite wing spars to Airbus specifications.
Shift patterns available:
- 12/7 day shifts (28% shift allowance): Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday; Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday 06:00 am – 06:00 pm
- Core nights (33% shift allowance): Monday – Thursday; 08:00 pm – 06:00 am
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, mask and spray composite components to Airbus specifications.
- Obtain a self‑certification stamp in a timely manner to enable work certification.
- Contribute to a Great Place to Work by role‑modeling safety‑first practices, a Kaizen mindset, and supporting colleagues.
- Hold yourself and fellow team members accountable to embody GKN Aerospace culture principles.
- Undertake all tasks in compliance with standard work, training, and report safety, quality, or other issues immediately to the team leader.
- Exemplify a safety‑first mindset and follow all GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
- Understand the team’s People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost Key Performance Indicators and your contribution to them.
- Be certified at the Lean Foundation level and implement at least one Kaizen per month.
- Support the team and team leader in problem solving, contributing ideas based on your experience of the tasks.
Qualifications:
- Essential: City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ equivalent in Paint Spraying. Ability to work to standard operating procedures and adopt a safety‑first mindset.
- Desirable: Previous paint spraying experience in an industrial setting. Experience working night shifts. Experience in lone working as well as part of a wider team.
