At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

As the new Manufacturing Engineer within Configuration you will work within the S63 area of the business and be responsible for managing changes in an effective manner. The successful candidate will work a 35 hour week, split across 4.5 days at our Filton site, although a very small amount of travel to Western Approach may also be required on occasion.

How You'll Contribute In This Role, you will:

  • Confer with inter-departmental personnel to implement internal and external change requests, resolve system errors, and provide technical feedback to customers.
  • Manage larger complex, or multiple smaller projects/mods from programme or customer approval through introduction to production and delivery to customer.
  • Recognise opportunities for improvement within day‑to‑day processes and recommend and implement solutions enabling a CI and lean working environment.
  • Breakdown, analyses and impact assess customer design proposals and Condition of Supply changes utilising data provided to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and lead time in implementing the proposal.
  • Create a Change implementation plan for every change being embodied to track progress, ensuring mods are delivered on customer agreed POE, within scope and within agreed costs.
  • Manage and validate all customer expectations and all stakeholder relationships, report and escalating setbacks as needed.
  • Participate in developing, establishing and maintaining procedures, processes and instruction for engineering activities.
  • Run programme/change review boards to manage the introduction of new processes into the manufacturing business.

  • HNC / HND in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Experience working with Windchill software.
  • Ability to read Engineering Drawings.
  • Knowledge of SAP/ERP tool.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and changing priorities.

Desirable:

  • CMII Qualified.
  • BSc in Engineering.
  • Prince2 or equivalent Project Management qualification.
