We are looking for a Radiographer to join our Test Department at the GKN Filton site. You will operate a radiographic facility unsupervised, performing RT & DRT inspections on aircraft and non-aircraft components, and certify products meet specified criteria. The role requires a 36‑hour workweek, rotating between Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday in week 1 and Wednesday, Thursday in week 2, with shifts from 7 am to 7 pm.

How You'll Contribute

  • Create Radiography Testing (RT) & Digital Radiographic Testing instructions as required
  • Perform RT & DRT inspections
  • Provide reports on Non‑Destructive Testing matters as required
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as required
  • Comply with all health & safety requirements
  • Ensure radiation safety
  • Supervise Level 1 and RT trainees as applicable
  • Ensure all relevant process control checks are carried out

NDT Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers and auditing bodies (NADCAP, LRQA, etc.) to support the auditing process
  • Perform penetrant tests on various aircraft materials, components and structures
  • Train unqualified personnel in NDT method
  • Write procedures, instructions and techniques as required
  • Perform control checks on test method capability
  • Advise customers of test results

What You'll Bring

  • Essential: An engineering or technical background within aerospace
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office IT packages
  • Ability to produce concise reports on test results and discuss with stakeholders of all levels
  • Knowledge of material specifications and associated testing criteria
  • Desirable: Qualified to EN4179 Level 2 Aerospace DRT & RT Combined
  • Classed as a radiation worker in accordance with IRR 2017
  • Trained Radiation Production Supervisor (RPS)
