At our GKN Filton site, we are currently searching for qualified fitters and fabricators to join various workshops across the site where we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of civil and military aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
  • Work with various materials (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel) in the manufacture of aircraft parts, across a variety of Airbus family of aircraft
  • Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
  • Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
  • Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
  • Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
  • Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
  • To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
  • Export Control understanding and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work to standard operating procedures
  • Must have a recognised indentured apprenticeship (level 3 in fitting or a similar relevant field, or a level 3 in fabrication/welding)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives

  • Starting salary of £35,304 rising to £36,750 once fully certified (after around 3 months) + shift allowance where applicable (up to 33%) + Up to 4% Bonus
