THE ROLE:
We are looking for an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our team in a key role bridging pre-construction and project delivery. This position is ideal for someone looking to step up into a broader commercial role, with the opportunity to develop into a Commercial Manager position over time. You will work closely with the directors and project teams, contributing to both tendering activities and commercial management of live projects, with support where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Review tender opportunities and assist in bid selection
- Carry out take-offs and support preparation of bills of quantities
- Assist in preparing tender submissions and pricing from first principles
- Obtain and review subcontractor quotations
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
- Support the commercial management of projects from start to final account
- Assist with subcontract procurement and administration
- Prepare and submit valuations and variations
- Monitor project costs and assist with reporting
- Support preparation and agreement of final accounts
- Work closely with project managers, procurement and accounts teams
- Build relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Contribute to improving commercial and estimating processes
The Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and commercially aware individual who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Essential:
- Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role
- Experience within building and/or civil engineering projects
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Experience with Excel and standard construction software
- Full UK driving licence
