GKL are a Building, Civil Engineering and Development company based in Peterborough, working on Projects in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire and Rutland.
We are currently looking to recruit a Junior Buyer/Admin Assistant to join our small, but busy team based in Peterborough. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has good written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn. The right candidate will have an eye for detail and enjoy working as part of a small team.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Working alongside our estimating and procurement manager you will assist with the sourcing of materials, services and plant and equipment for our projects.
- Dealing with site requisitions and raising of purchase orders for suppliers and services accurately ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Helping to solve problems that may arise on site in a proactive manner.
- Dealing with invoice queries from suppliers relating to purchase orders.
- Organising and booking training courses.
- General admin assistance to Director and Project Manager.
- Working in accordance with set policies and procedures.
- Other ad hoc duties as required (answering the door and phone).
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths and English.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Prior experience in the Construction Sector with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- The ability to work independently using your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Self-motivation, with good time keeping and a positive work ethic.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- The ability to remain calm and objective under pressure.
- Driving License.
- Previous experience with Eque2 Construct software (or similar) would be advantageous.

- Hours of work are 8.30am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.
- A friendly environment to work in.
- Holiday entitlement is 23 days per year plus 8 bank holidays. Holiday entitlement increases with length of service.

- Death in service benefit is provided after two years of service.
- The starting Salary will be in the range of £26,000 - £31,000 depending upon experience.
