We are recruiting an experienced Software Development Team Leader to lead and develop a growing software engineering team while remaining hands-on with coding, design, and customer-facing delivery. This role is ideal for a Senior Software Developer or Lead Developer ready to step into team leadership without sacrificing technical work.
About the role & Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are expanding our software team and are seeking a hands-on Development Team Leader to take ownership of our core software product—an asset management system built to meet health & safety compliance standards. You will lead a team of developers, work closely with customers to understand requirements, and play a key role in the ongoing design, development, and enhancement of a highly configurable product built using Microsoft .NET and React Native.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of 5 software developers
- Remain hands-on with software design and development
- Develop and enhance applications using Microsoft .NET
- Work directly with customers to gather and translate business requirements
- Plan and manage development schedules and workloads
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and to agreed specifications
- Use JIRA to manage development tasks, releases, and source control
- Establish and improve development processes across design, build, test, and release
- Collaborate with senior management on product innovation and roadmap planning

Essential experience and skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in software design and development
- Strong experience with Microsoft .NET
- Ability to remain hands-on while leading and supporting others

- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Desirable:
- Previous experience leading or mentoring developers
- Experience working within structured development lifecycles and agile environments
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum (DOE)
Holiday: 25 days paid holiday plus public holidays
Pension: 3% employer contribution / 5% employee contribution
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Flexibility required to support customers and project delivery when needed)
