As we scale our financial operations to match our growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and strategic VP Controller to join our leadership team.

Job Summary:

As the VP Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions. You will play a key role in building a world-class finance organization that can support rapid scaling, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and deliver timely, accurate financial insights to stakeholders. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with startup agility and enterprise-grade financial rigor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and scale the accounting function, including general ledger, revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, tax, and financial reporting.
• Design and implement robust internal controls and financial systems in compliance with GAAP and future audit requirements.
• Drive timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes; produce financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Develop, mentor, and expand a high-performing accounting team.
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools appropriate for a scaling SaaS + defense hybrid business.
• Maintain compliance with relevant tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements (including any prep for future IPO readiness, if applicable).

Qualifications:

• CPA required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, including leadership positions in high-growth SaaS or tech-enabled businesses.
• Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred.
• Experience in both SaaS (with ASC 606 revenue recognition) and defense or government contracting is strongly desired.
• Experience managing audits and scaling financial systems and processes in a startup or fast-growth environment.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance.
• Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive financial excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
