We are seeking an accomplished Project Director/Deputy Project Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for the delivery of a major, high-profile complex building project in the United Kingdom. The role carries full accountability for programme, cost, quality, safety and client satisfaction across the entire project lifecycle—from mobilisation through construction and handover. Core Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for the full project lifecycle, from mobilisation through construction and handover, ensuring alignment with client, contractual and business objectives.
- Lead and inspire the senior project leadership team across construction, commercial, design, planning and HSE functions, promoting a high-performance, safety-led culture.
- Act as the primary client and stakeholder interface, managing senior relationships, governance forums and key decision-making processes.
- Maintain control of programme, cost, quality and risk, ensuring delivery milestones are achieved and performance targets met.
- Ensure full compliance with UK regulatory, contractual and health & safety requirements, including CDM 2015.
- Provide commercial oversight, including budget control, procurement strategy and supply chain performance.
- Oversee design coordination and technical integration, ensuring buildability, value optimisation and effective delivery.
- Champion sustainability, digital innovation and operational readiness through structured close-out and handover.
Candidate Profile
- Experience
- Minimum 18 years' experience in major construction projects.
- Proven delivery experience on large-scale UK projects, such as complex buildings, major facilities, or similarly intricate developments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on high-value projects.
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Must hold the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
- SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme
- CDM 2015 Awareness / Principal Contractor Knowledge
- Chartered or equivalent professional status (e.g. MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS, MICE, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of project planning and control tools (e.g. Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project).
- Advanced capability in Microsoft Office and executive-level reporting.
- Power BI or equivalent data visualisation tools.
- Project and document management platforms (Procore, Viewpoint, Fieldview, Aconex, Asite, BIM 360).
