Role Summary: We are seeking a Social Media Manager to lead GiveDirectly's presence across our social platforms, driving brand building, audience growth, engagement, and fundraising. You will own strategy, execution, and measurement across public accounts (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Substack, YouTube, Facebook, BlueSky, TikTok, Reddit), paid collaborations, and thoughtâleadership channels.
Location and Working Conditions: This role is fully remote but must overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas in the U.S. or U.K. at this time.
Reports To: Senior Director of Communications (Tyler) for the first six months, then the Communications team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Social Media Strategy & Brand Management: Lead strategy and posting calendar, build a repeatable playbook & templates, define goals, and establish a measurement framework.
- Content Creation & Management: Create and edit posts, visuals, and short videos; collaborate with internal teams; manage publishing cadence and community engagement; guide tone and style; coordinate platform updates and emerging formats.
- Collaboration with Content Creators: Identify, negotiate, and pitch paid collaborations; oversee creative concepts; surface unpaid collaboration ideas.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner with Growth, Communications, Research, and Country Programs; support leadership and surrogates in expanding thought leadership.
- Measurement & Optimization: Track KPIs, monitor sentiment, provide reporting, and suggest experiments. Support emergency cash responses, endâofâyear giving, research dissemination, and other campaigns as needed.

- Experience with content design or light video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite).
- Ability to turn complex topics into clear, engaging content.
- Strong project management and prioritization skills.
- Strategic thinker who can build a cohesive brand across multiple channels.
- Deep understanding of social algorithms, audience behavior, and performance.
- Comfort with social analytics tools (Meta Suite, Sprout, Later, Hootsuite).
- Deep alignment with GiveDirectly's values and mission.

Salary & Compensation: We use a thirdâparty salary aggregator to determine competitive pay based on role, location, and cost of living. We follow a noânegotiation policy to ensure equity across roles.

- Kenya base: $61,900
- United Kingdom base: ÂŁ61,200
