Job description –Senior Systems Analyst

In this technically focussed Systems Analyst role, we are looking for an ambitious individual with database management and systems engineering experience to join the operations team. Please note this role is highly technical, you must be a confident SQL, Python and AWS user. The role involves working closely with traders and senior management and would suit a highly driven candidate looking to advance their career in the investment industry. Key responsibilities - Senior Systems Analyst

  • Monitoring of positions relative to limits, communication with traders, and escalation to senior management as necessary.
  • Updating and maintaining trade analysis tools (including operating the in-house trade and price curves database using MySQL and Python scripting for data manipulation).
  • Development and maintenance of the firm’s in-house Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system.
  • Engineering and maintenance of key financial technical systems via Python and AWS.
  • Preparation of periodic reports and investment commentary to clients and senior management.

Key requirements -Senior Systems Analyst

  • A minimum of a 2:1 from University(Analytical/numerical degrees preferred).
  • 2 years+ relevant or related industry experience in systems engineering.
  • Must be highly competent with Python, SQLand AWS and have commercial experience using these languages.
  • Technical skills required: database manipulation (must have strong Python scripting skills, proficient in MySQL, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Excel-VBA) and AWS experience is essential.
  • An understanding of commodity markets and/or derivatives an advantage.
  • Must be self-motivated, organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise.
