The Measurement Science group is a technical support function enabling science-based innovation, data driven decision-making and claims substantiation. Working closely with internal stakeholders including the Ingredient Discovery, Fragrance Delivery, Malodour Research, Global Technology and Business Support teams, the group generates and applies physio-chemical performance data to substantiate olfactive and wider creation benefits.
The successful candidate will apply their expertise in FMCG formulation science (e.g. surfactants, enzymes, functional actives) to understand and optimise fragrance performance in real world product formats, leading to superior technology innovation.
In this exciting position, you will:
- Take a lead role to facilitate fragrance technology innovation, claims substantiation and data driven decision‑making via:
- Application of advanced measurement techniques to progress both proactive research programmes and business getting activities
- Expansion and maintenance of relevant expertise, capability and infrastructure in the area of fragrance product related formulation science, to meet business requirements
- Generation and analysis of high quality datasets for research platforms, client submission and intellectual property protection
- Establishing close connection with key internal stakeholders to identify and deliver next generation business needs
- Identification and partnering with external organisations to access wider expertise and capabilities
Your professional profile includes:
- Proven understanding and hands‑on experience with formulation of relevant consumer products
- Practical experience with application of scientific instrumentation (including chemical measurement techniques)
- University degree or higher in relevant scientific discipline
- Leading and managing projects
- People management experience is preferred
- Problem‑solving approach
- Able to work both independently and within a team environment
- Proficient IT skills (including specialist scientific software packages, knowledge databases)
