An Overview Of This Role

As a Payroll Specialist at GitLab, you will work closely with other members of the Payroll team in handling our US payroll. You will report to the Payroll Manager and work fully remote within the Americas region. If you have 2+ years of payroll or data entry experience and proven to be self-motivated, tech-savvy, and able to deliver results in a fast-paced environment, this position may be the right fit for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Review, research, and respond to employee inquiries across all levels via the ServiceNow Platform
  • Deliver instruction and training to employees on payroll-related systems, including ADP Time Tracking entry and online access to pay statements
  • Assist with year-end W2 processing and respond to employee W2 inquiries
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, and distributing payroll mail
  • Maintain, update, and audit payroll employee records with a high level of accuracy
  • Respond to all agency inquiries, including income verification requests, employment verifications, and unemployment inquiries
  • Manage the garnishment process in conjunction with ADP by uploading garnishments and monitoring workflow in ADP SmartCompliance
  • Download, distribute, and save reports as instructed
  • Create, prepare, and run custom reports from Workday and ADP
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Finance, and Operations teams on various employee-related tasks and projects

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor\’s degree
  • 2+ years of previous data entry experience
  • 1+ year of experience processing payroll in the US
  • ADP Workforce Now experience preferred; Workday HCM experience is a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting, taxation, and finance concepts as they relate to payroll
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and outside the box
  • Ability to work independently with a team-first mentality
