From our distribution centres to our transport operations and support functions, we connect people, technology and expertise to ensure the right products reach the right stores at the right time. As we continue to invest in our people, technology and network, there's never been a more exciting time to join Gist and help shape the future of food logistics.

As a Network Planner at Gist, you will play a key role in planning the movement of products through the Gist network for Marks & Spencer and Ocado. This is a fast paced and varied role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with sites, suppliers and customers across the UK to create efficient transport plans, respond to live operational challenges and identify opportunities to improve network performance. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinks creatively and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. Your ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively will be essential to your success. This is a 12-month fixed term contract, therefore we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible!

What you'll be doing

  • Plan product movements from food manufacturers to our regional distribution centres, ensuring efficient use of the network and minimising the number of routes required.
  • Monitor and manage plans to ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved and exceeded.
  • Review depot and customer plans to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings.
  • Plan the replenishment and return of delivery equipment from regional distribution centres to suppliers, based on individual supplier requirements.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to live customer and operational issues.
  • Confidently communicate with customers, sites, suppliers and colleagues by telephone and email.
  • Work collaboratively with wider transport and logistics operations to deliver the best possible service.
  • Think creatively and identify practical solutions to transport and network challenges.
  • Maintain a strong focus on service, cost, efficiency and operational performance.

What we're looking for

  • Highly motivated and driven by challenges.
  • Passionate, enthusiastic and committed to delivering high standards.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and making decisions in a fast moving environment.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong relationship builder who can communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Natural communicator and creative problem solver, able to find solutions to operational challenges.
  • Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

It would be desirable, but not essential if you have experience of transport scheduling or transport planning with Knowledge of the Working Time Directive (WTD) and Drivers' Hours regulations. If you’re an organised and proactive transport professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems and building strong relationships, we’d love to hear from you. Join Gist and help us keep the network moving.

  • Hours: 4 on 4 off shift, working 6:30am to 6:30pm.

What’s in it for you?

  • 20% M&S discount on most things from furniture, fashion and food
  • 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with length of service)
  • Discounted rates on healthcare cash plan
  • Attractive annual bonus scheme, based on M&S performance and personal objectives
  • Auto Enrolment Pension or competitive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and life assurance (up to 4 times salary)
  • Amazing perks and discounts via our App to major restaurants and retailers
