The Senior Business Analyst role is pivotal in delivering clarity to strategically important projects in our logistics modernisation program. The role will be broad and bring together cross functional teams from logistics operations to technology.

As Senior Business Analyst you will lead the design, support development and implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and enhance existing systems to support operational efficiencies and improvements through effective business analysis and system design.

Role details:

  • Salary: Circa £75,000 per annum
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Monday to Friday
  • Location: Hybrid - Minimum of 2 days per week at a Gist location nationwide

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis, interpretation and documentation of logistics processes, including warehousing, inventory management, and distribution, to identify areas for improvement and cost optimisation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document business requirements, ensuring alignment with overall logistics objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Gather and analyse data from various sources, such as ERP systems, logistics software, and industry reports, to provide actionable insights and recommendations for process enhancements
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure logistics performance and track progress towards operational goals
  • Prepare and present data-driven reports, visualisations, and dashboards to communicate findings and support decision-making at various levels of the organisation
  • Identify opportunities for process and technology solutions to streamline logistics operations, improve accuracy, and reduce costs
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in logistics, and recommend relevant innovations for adoption
  • Support the implementation and testing of new systems or process changes, collaborating with IT and operational teams to ensure successful deployment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency
  • Provide ongoing support and expertise to stakeholders, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives

Who you are:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst
  • You must have strong demonstrable experience of FMCG, retail and logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, warehouse automation, inventory management, and distribution processes
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyse complex data sets, identify trends, and derive meaningful insights
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Excel, or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of logistics systems and software (e.g., WMS, WCS, TMS) is preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels of the organisation
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
