We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team in Faversham. As a Transport Operations Manager you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the day to day transport operations at site. You will engage, empower and support the Transport Shift Managers in the smooth running of the Transport operation, which range from a variety of tasks that add value to the operation. In this role, you will lead the transport functions of the distribution centre, ensuring that customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

In addition, you will liaise closely with the customer to ensure all productivity, legal and compliance targets are met and exceeded.

Role Details

• Salary: Up to £48,400 per annum + £6,000 Night Shift Premium
• Hours: 37.5 per week
• Working pattern: Nights – working flexibily between 18:00 and 06:00
• Location: Site – Faversham, ME13 7TW

What You’ll Do

• Accountable and inspiring of Gist safety initiatives at local site level
• Manage safety and compliance breaches appropriately.
• Improving AVDA performance
• Work alongside the engineering manager to ensure all operational fleet is safe and legal
• Development of shift managers, through IDPs and coaching
• Driving positive change and engaging culture, bringing to life the Gist values
• Accountable for Operational excellence i.e. cost and service including Peak planning/deliver
• Accountable for Legal o-license compliance (on O License)
• Conduct Investigations into non-compliance and regular checks to ensure standards are being maintained.
• Ownership of continuous improvement initiatives and controllable costs

Who You Are

• Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of a transport function within the FMCG Distribution Industry.
• A background operating at a management level is a must.
• Transport CPC license
• A passion for encouraging teamwork, focusing on creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas.
• Excellent team management skill for developing shift managers.
• An analytical mind-set.
• Flexibility to cover shift managers and a variety of shift patterns in the future.
• You\’ll come in to contact with Trade Unions (previous experience with this would be beneficial)
