Girraphic is an agile and ever-growing broadcast innovation and design agency, founded in Sydney. We have grown exponentially over the last decade and are trusted by some of the largest names globally in broadcast to elevate their productions. Specialising in Vizrt & Unreal Engine products and workflows, we have over 30 years of industry experience in the conception, production and successful delivery of full turnkey and bespoke on-air solutions across all media platforms.
The Role
There are a multitude of skilled individuals in our creative, technical, and operational departments and we are expanding our Software Development team to ensure the effective, robust, and exceptional quality of delivery that our clients have become accustomed to. As part of our growing team of broadcast software developers, you will be part of the "brain" that helps operate sports and live broadcast graphics in the smoothest way, working on fast-paced live events with real-time data. Our software is a multi-modular approach to highly dependable and scalable integrations for broadcast graphics operational control.
This role is full time, based onsite in our London office (SW19). At times you may be required to support a global portfolio requiring flexibility with non-traditional hours and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
What you will do
- Build, maintain, and test new modules and components for the ever-growing list of sports and projects we support.
- Focus on writing maintainable, scalable, documented code to support live productions and process real-time data.
- Integrate live data feeds from external data providers using various technologies and APIs to parse and transform data for graphics output, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout live broadcasts.
- Support live productions by debugging and delivering fixes during operation. Extreme attention to detail is required to deploy safe code changes in high-pressure moments.
- Collaborate with graphics operators in the use of new functionalities to streamline UI/UX for new features; write documentation to explain usage.
- Work collaboratively with our talented graphic artists to find the best approach to creating the application interface or components that are required for each module.
- Contribute to technical discussions and help shape our software growth to support the future needs.
- Be ready to learn and show initiative in support of live broadcast, as well as learn new skills in the industry that are required across our projects.
- Continuously enhance our projects by nurturing junior staff.
Who you are
Our ideal software developer will be a highly flexible individual ready to take on any challenge across full stack development, eager to grow in the broadcast industry, with a relentless attitude towards working in a high-pressure live production environment and a passion for sports of any kind. With a skillset and work history that shows:
- Demonstrated prior experience with full-stack software development.
- Strong experience building intuitive modern frontend applications (React and TypeScript preferred).
- Experience developing performant backend services and APIs (e.g. Node.js or Python, REST APIs).
- Understanding of application architecture, data flow patterns, and network protocols (e.g. HTTP, WebSockets, TCP/UDP).
- Proficiency with Git workflows, CI/CD practices, and collaborative development.
- Fluent English speaker with strong communication skills, adaptable to high-pressure working conditions.
- Computer Science degree or similar technical background.
- Experience with video game development engines (e.g. Unreal Engine, Unity) or real-time rendering pipelines.
- Familiarity with modern cloud environments and deployment (e.g. AWS).
- Passion for sports and for graphics.
