London FC Lead Coach is a casual coaching position for Girls United Football Association, a grassroots organization that empowers girls in London. The Lead Coach will deliver age‑appropriate training sessions and matchday experiences for teams ranging from U9 to U16 that compete in the Tandridge Youth Football League.
Location: South London – Lambeth, Southwark, and surrounding areas.
Working hours: Two weekday evening training sessions per week (Monday‑Thursday, 5:00 pm‑8:30 pm) and one Sunday fixture during term time (kick‑off 9:30 am‑3:00 pm). Additional up to 5 hours of administrative work per month.
Compensation: £17.50 per hour. Training sessions include an extra 15 minutes for session set‑up, plus session delivery time. Match days are 2‑3 hours for the lead coach, 1.75‑2.75 hours for the assistant coach. Administrative hours are billed at £13.50 per hour for pre‑agreed work.
Responsibilities:
- Attend all scheduled sessions, events, and fixtures agreed with the FC Programme Lead.
- Oversee and support assistant coaches during their sessions.
- Build rapport and trust with players, parents, and guardians to maintain engagement.
- Develop technical, tactical, social, psychological and physical aspects of players, fostering growth on and off the pitch.
- Collaborate with other team members, including volunteers, staff, and contracted teammates.
- Maintain positive relationships with community groups and partnership venues.
- Ensure safeguarding and player wellbeing, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
- Contribute new ideas and programmes to support organisational growth.
- Assist with fixture administration, officiating, and league app usage during match days.
- Deliver periodic player development reflections, training reviews, match‑day analysis, player review nights, and scheduled 1:1 meetings with the Programme Lead.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least one season of experience leading a youth team in grassroots football (girls/women’s space).
- Experience overseeing a fixture programme.
- FA Level 2 in Football Coaching (or working towards) and current qualifications for Safeguarding Children and First Aid in Football.
- Experience in league administration (match cards, player cards, match reports).
- Experience working with an assistant coach.
- Excellent communication skills; confident speaking to players, parents, venues, schools, and funders.
- Strong organisational skills; able to manage time, complete admin tasks, and attend sessions.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast‑paced environment; willingness to work evenings, weekends, and unsocial hours.
Essential & Desirable Qualities:
- Essential (E): Experience leading a youth team; FA Level 2 coaching qualification; league administration experience; communication, organisational, and adaptability skills.
- Desirable (D): Experience working with an assistant coach.
