Position

Football Coach (Play Like a Girl) – London, Greater London – Casual – £13.50-£17.50 per hour.

Reports to

London Programme Lead / Head Coach on site.

Salary

Lead Coach: £17.50 per hour. Assistant Coach: £13.50 per hour.

Where & When

  • Oasis St Martin’s Village (SW2). Tuesday Evenings 5:00pm – 6:00pm (During term time)
  • Streatham Vale Park (SW16). Thursday Evenings 5:00pm – 6:00pm (During term time)
  • Peckham Rye Park (SE22). Sunday Mornings 10:00am – 11:00am (During term time)

Job Description

The Sessional Coach delivers our Play Like a Girl programme at any of the sessions listed above. The programme works with girls of any ability aged 5‑14, from those who have never kicked a ball before to those who play for teams and still want to enjoy the social benefits of sport. The Sessional Coach delivers practical sessions, supports players and the current workforce, and supports the foundation phase of play to make a positive contribution to the community. Girls United offers pathways across our programmes, with a real emphasis on individual player development, confidence and football.

Coach Expectations

  • Lead Coaches: oversee and support assistant coaches who deliver parts or whole sessions.
  • All Coaches: build rapport and trust with players, attendees and young people to ensure continued engagement with Girls United and support community development on and off the pitch.
  • All Coaches: work collaboratively with other team members, including volunteers, sessional staff and contracted staff within Girls United London.
  • All Coaches: support the creation and maintenance of positive relationships with community groups and partner organisations (such as venues) to deliver programmes.
  • All Coaches: contribute to new ideas, programmes and opportunities for growth, experience and delivery.
  • Lead Coaches: bring appropriate equipment as pre‑agreed with the Programme Lead.

Essential and Desirable Qualities and Qualifications

  • Experience: leading or delivering football or community sports programmes, ideally with young people (especially females).
  • Qualification: FA Level 1 in Football Coaching (or working towards) with an up‑to‑date qualification for Safeguarding Children and First Aid in Football (required for Lead and Assistant Coaches).
  • Communication: confident to speak and build positive rapport with various people within the community, such as players and parents.
  • Organisational skills: manage time effectively and ensure punctual attendance at sessions and other in‑person activities.
