Girls Not Brides
Girls Not Brides is a global partnership of more than 1,500 civil society organisations committed to ending child marriage and enabling girls to fulfil their potential. Founded in 2011, the organisation works across various countries, advocating for policy changes and raising awareness about the harmful effects of child marriage.
The core mission of Girls Not Brides is to empower girls and ensure they have access to education, health services, and opportunities that allow them to thrive. The organisation believes that every girl has the right to choose when and whom to marry, and it actively campaigns against practices that violate this right.
Through its extensive network, Girls Not Brides collaborates with local communities, governments, and international bodies to create sustainable solutions to end child marriage. The organisation provides resources, training, and support to grassroots organisations, helping them to implement effective programmes tailored to their specific contexts.
In addition to advocacy, Girls Not Brides conducts research and shares knowledge on the issue of child marriage, highlighting best practices and successful interventions. The organisation also engages in public awareness campaigns to educate communities about the importance of delaying marriage and investing in girls’ futures.
With a vision of a world where all girls can grow up free from the threat of child marriage, Girls Not Brides continues to inspire action and drive change at local, national, and global levels. The organisation’s commitment to collaboration and inclusivity ensures that the voices of those most affected by child marriage are heard and valued.
By fostering partnerships and mobilising resources, Girls Not Brides aims to create a future where every girl can achieve her dreams and contribute positively to her community.
