This role offers a term‑time, part‑time position that enables a good work/life balance and allows you to make a real impact on our schools and the young people we serve.

We Offer

  • Staff are our most valued asset. We continuously introduce initiatives that support them professionally and personally: a new Health and Wellbeing Cash plan for staff and their dependents; a generous discretionary leave scheme; and changes to the performance review process to focus on continued professional development.
  • The HR Advisor role also offers flexibility – you can choose to work 4.5 hours across five days or 5.75 hours across five days over the 39 term‑time weeks each year (plus two weeks confirmed with your line manager).

Our Commitment To You

You will be part of a small, dynamic HR team that works hard while also creating a supportive environment. We will provide induction and ongoing training to set you up for success. We uphold a culture that promotes kindness, collaboration, recognition, and an inclusive, safe workspace where everyone feels heard and empowered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with Headteachers and other senior leaders in schools to provide effective HR advice and support.
  • Support employee relations cases (e.g. grievances, disciplinaries, capability and absence).
  • Handle HR administration related to safer recruitment, onboarding and changes to terms and conditions of employment.
  • Support recruitment and selection where necessary.
  • Assist with ad hoc project work, including policy and process development.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be flexible and prepared to adapt according to the needs of the business.
  • Have gained experience in an HR generalist role.
  • Enjoy the administrative side of the role and possess strong organisational skills.

Safer Recruitment

The Girls’ Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. In order to meet this responsibility, we follow a rigorous selection process to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. As part of that process, we verify identity and require an enhanced DBS disclosure. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, we may conduct an online search of shortlisted candidates to identify any matters that might relate to our safeguarding duties. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified people and aim to employ a culturally diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
