The Company
We are working with a highly respected and professional civil engineering business with a strong regional presence across Devon and Somerset. Although well established, the business continues to grow steadily, delivering complex infrastructure schemes valued between £5m and £40m. Their project portfolio includes major highways works, bridges and structures, Section 278 schemes, infrastructure projects, road realignments and junction improvements. Known for high standards, technical capability and repeat business, they have built an excellent reputation for delivering safely, collaboratively and to programme.
With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to strengthen their Exeter team with the appointment of an experienced Site Agent.
The Role
As Site Agent, you will take a key leadership role on live civil engineering projects, overseeing site delivery and acting as the interface between client, subcontractors and internal teams. You will be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme and within commercial targets.
Key duties will include:
- Chairing and attending client and progress meetings
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors
- Leading, supervising and coordinating site teams
- Short-term planning and look-ahead programming
- Drafting, reviewing and checking RAMS
- Reviewing and working from drawings and specifications
- Managing quality control and health & safety on site
- Ensuring compliance with project and company procedures
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and capable Site Agent with a strong civil engineering background, who brings:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience working for a civil engineering main contractor
- Proven delivery experience on highways, infrastructure, structures or similar schemes
- A commercially aware and solutions‑focused approach
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- An engineering‑led mindset with attention to quality and safety
