The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Section Engineer to join a major heavy civil engineering project based near Bridgwater. The scheme is well underway and offers long-term continuity of work through to 2027/28, making it an excellent opportunity for a contractor looking for stability on a flagship project.

  • Large reinforced concrete structures
  • Sheet piling
  • Major earthworks
  • River realignments and diversions
  • Bridges and viaducts

The Role

As Section Engineer, you will support the delivery of works across your designated section, working closely with site management and subcontractors. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out and monitoring works
  • Checking and supporting Site Engineers
  • Quality assurance and compliance
  • Health & Safety management
  • Coordinating and managing subcontractors
  • Attending and contributing to as-built meetings
  • Ordering materials and managing site requirements

All required kit and equipment will be provided by the client.

About You

We are looking for experienced Site or Section Engineers with a strong background in heavy civil engineering. Suitable experience may include:

  • Major highways projects
  • Large RC structures (bridges, viaducts, etc.)
  • Water or wastewater treatment works
  • Flood alleviation schemes
  • Major earthworks

You will also bring:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience on heavy civils projects including earthworks, RC structures, marine works or river diversions
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to commute to the Bridgwater area
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to live and work in the UK

Rate & Package

£350 - £375 per day (plus holiday pay), depending on experience. Long-term contract on a major infrastructure scheme. All site equipment provided.
