This is a genuinely rare opportunity for a Structural Engineer based in the South West to work on major high-rise building projects — without relocating to a major city or sacrificing quality of life.
A well-established, design-led civil and structural engineering consultancy with a strong Exeter presence is expanding its structural team to support a growing portfolio of complex, multi-storey and high-rise developments delivered across the UK.
While the Exeter office remains firmly rooted in Devon, the consultancy operates nationally, meaning you’ll gain exposure to large-scale, technically demanding buildings typically associated with London, Bristol or Manchester — all while staying local.
As Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design and delivery of high-rise and complex building structures, alongside a wider mix of commercial and residential projects. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, working closely with architects, developers and multidisciplinary teams from concept through to construction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Structural design and analysis of high-rise and multi-storey buildings
- Producing calculations, drawings and technical reports
- Working confidently with AutoCAD and Tekla
- Collaborating closely with architects and wider design teams
- Supporting project delivery from feasibility through to construction stages
- Ensuring designs comply with current codes, standards and best practice
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical excellence
- Coordinating with colleagues across the wider business
About You
We’re looking for a capable and ambitious Structural Engineer who brings:
- A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Proven experience within a structural design consultancy
- Exposure to high-rise or complex building structures
- Competence using AutoCAD and Tekla
- Experience with Revit, Site3D or Flow (desirable but not essential)
- Strong technical understanding and modern design capability
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with project teams
- A desire to work on technically demanding projects while remaining Devon-based
- Chartership is welcomed but not essential for the right candidate.
