We’re looking for a highly motivated and passionate senior PR officer to play a leading role in the delivery of Girlguiding’s ambitious and integrated media strategy. Working within the busy press office, you’ll secure media opportunities to help girls’ voices be heard, drive brand awareness and promote Girlguiding’s award-winning youth offer and the life changing opportunities guiding provides.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience delivering creative, high impact national and regional PR campaigns to engage target audiences across a wide range of media. They will have an excellent news sense, extensive knowledge of UK media and the ability to identify and maximise PR opportunities. They will feel confident briefing Girlguiding’s young spokespeople as well as senior management, produce high-quality press materials and have a strong social media know-how. They will also have experience in line management and crisis and reputational risk management.

The post requires working outside of 9-5 office hours, such as evenings and occasionally weekends, to be part of the press on-call rota and to travel to other locations as necessary, for which time off in lieu and an allowance will be given.

Girlguiding is the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls. We’re over 300,000 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, who come together to laugh, learn, explore and have adventures, in communities across the UK and virtually. We're almost 80,000 volunteers who make guiding happen by giving time, talent and enthusiasm. Girls can do anything. We’re a powerful collective voice – with girls, led by girls – changing the world for the better.

Girlguiding values the differences that a diverse workforce brings and is committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. We are proud to work with a number of organisations who support us to create and maintain a culture that celebrates diversity and champions inclusion in the workplace. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Girlguiding operates a hybrid working arrangement where office based staff are required to attend the office on average two days a week, or 40% of working time across the year. Location allowance is payable to those who work in accordance with our hybrid working model. We’re committed though to supporting our staff to achieve a good work-life balance and offer flexible working options wherever we reasonably can.

All staff are required to carry out our online health and safety training and complete a DSE risk assessment to ensure we can provide the support you require. We strive to ensure our recruitment processes are accessible to everyone.
