We are hiring for a DevOps Engineer - AWS for our client's project based in Glasgow, UK – 2-3 days per week Onsite.
Role Description
We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in OpenShift and container orchestration technologies. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized applications to ensure scalability, security, and operational excellence. You will collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to deliver robust cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using best practices for security, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Deploy and manage OpenShift clusters for container orchestration and application hosting.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Configure and manage AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, MSK, RDS (Oracle preferred), and Elastic Load Balancers.
- Implement containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Ensure compliance with cloud networking patterns (VPC, subnets, peering, firewalls) and security best practices.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high availability.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software delivery lifecycle.
Essential Skills / Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with containers, Kubernetes, and related technologies on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in setting up cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation.
- Strong experience with DevOps tooling (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Nexus, Git, Jira).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, EC2, MSK, RDS).
- Expertise in Linux administration and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, and OpenShift).
- Solid understanding of cloud networking (VPC, subnets, peering, firewalls).
- Basic knowledge of Java-based applications, APIs, and microservices.
Desirable Skills / Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of scripting experience (PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, Node.js, Python).
- Proficient with Jira, Jenkins, Bitbucket/GitLab, and Git workflows.
- Experience in regulated environments (banking, financial services).
- Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms (Amazon ECS/EKS, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Relevant AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
- Familiarity with Helm charts, OpenShift Operators, and advanced CI/CD practices.
