A technical engineering business are seeking to add a Management Accountant to their finance team to be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and month-end processes, ensuring the financial records are accurate, complete and delivered on time.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Take ownership of assigned areas of the month-end and year-end close
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules for review by the CFO on review and finalisation
Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts
Investigate and resolve outstanding, aged or unreconciled balances.
Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for month-end journals and reconciliations.
Review inventory transactions, stock adjustments, stock valuation and Work in Progress (WIP) balances.
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
Assist with P&L and variance analysis and investigate significant movements.
Provide financial information and analysis to the CFO
Support the year-end close and preparation of supporting schedules.
Assist with external audit requirements and respond to audit queries.
Ensure reconciliations and supporting documentation are complete and readily available for audit.
Assist the CFO with other accounting, reporting and finance activities as required.
Previous experience in a Financial or Management Accountant role is essential with good practical understanding of month-end accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L. You must be able to take ownership of responsibilities and work effectively to deadlines. Additional advantageous skills would be experience with foreign currency accounting, SAP knowledge or inventory exposure. Ideally you will be part-qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA looking to qualify in the near future.
