An international technology business is looking for a qualified accountant to assume a Financial Controller role to strengthen the team through business growth. The individual will oversee a team of 2 staff reports in managing the largest and fastest growing business unit with a turnover of c£45m. Reporting to the CFO, the role will cover:
- Overview of submission of monthly Management Accounts to group head office
- Control of Month end journal posting including WIP, prepayments, accruals etc
- Control of Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Production of monthly analysis reports
- Ensure all projects comply with revenue recognition accounting standards
- Intercompany balance reconciliation and repayment
- Submission of VAT returns
- Control of submission of month end statutory accounts onto consolidation software
- Management of half-year review and year end statutory audits
- Preparation of annual budgets with input from the Business Unit Directors
- Supervise, manage and mentor a finance team of 3
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role, overseeing the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting ideally in a project-based business. The candidate would ideally have an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with solid IT skills, experience with Sage and advanced user of Microsoft Excel as this is used extensively. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail are important personal competencies, along with adapting to a changing environment.
