Accommodation: A private bedroom is available within the family’s three-bedroom bungalow for sleep-in shifts.

Role: Gingham Nanny Agency is seeking a compassionate, experienced and proactive Specialist Nanny to support a young family following a life-changing brain injury. This rewarding role involves supporting a devoted mother in her parenting role following an acquired brain injury, whilst ensuring her young son’s needs are met in a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to support the family’s goals, enabling mother and son to enjoy quality time together whilst promoting independence, confidence and family wellbeing.

About the Child: A delightful little boy aged 3 years who enjoys:

He is an energetic, curious and affectionate child who thrives with positive engagement and structure.

The Role Will Include:

  • Supporting Mum in her parenting role within the home and community
  • Promoting child safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Supporting family activities and outings
  • Working collaboratively with the rehabilitation and therapy team
  • Providing guidance and practical support to maximise parenting goals
  • Encouraging positive interactions and quality family time
  • Occasional sole charge care when required
  • Supporting routines, activities and developmental opportunities

About Mum: Mum sustained a brain injury over three years ago and continues to experience physical and cognitive difficulties which impact day-to-day functioning. The role is not simply childcare; it is a specialist family support position designed to maximise Mum’s independence and confidence whilst ensuring her son’s needs are met.

Hours: Hours will be reviewed from September when the child begins school – minimum hours will be guaranteed to assure a longevity of placement.

Qualifications:

  • Previous nanny or childcare experience
  • Experience supporting families affected by disability, acquired brain injury, SEN or additional needs desirable
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Compassionate, flexible and professional approach

Driving: A driver is preferred. The family has a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and most transportation is provided by Mum’s support team. However, there may occasionally be a requirement to transport the child.
