Overall Objectives of the Post
Gingerbread Family Support is evolving. We’re more than a homelessness charity; we’re a Family Support organisation working with families in crisis, helping them rebuild their lives and move towards a brighter future. This new Marketing Officer role is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of this transformation, raising our profile, expanding our fundraising reach, and ensuring families, professionals, and funders understand the vital work we do.
We need a creative, driven, and strategic marketer who can turn stories into impact, design compelling campaigns, and make our message impossible to ignore. The right candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced charity environment, loves working with people, and has a passion for using marketing to drive social change.
This role will:
- Reposition Gingerbread Family Support from a homelessness charity to a Family Support organisation.
- Engage donors, funders, and supporters to increase fundraising success.
- Promote new services to professionals and families in need.
- Grow our digital presence and public awareness.
- Strengthen internal communications so staff, volunteers, and stakeholders feel connected and informed.

Key Responsibilities
- Brand Awareness & Organisational Repositioning
- Develop and execute a marketing strategy to reposition Gingerbread Family Support as a leading Family Support charity, engaging sector professionals, funders, and referral agencies.
- Build our reputation within the homelessness, family support, and housing sectors, ensuring professionals recognise our expertise.
- Develop and maintain clear branding guidelines to ensure a consistent and professional identity across all channels.
- Support key staff (including the CEO) in raising their professional profiles on LinkedIn, helping establish Gingerbread Family Support as a thought leader in the sector.
- Work with front line staff to understand their roles and families we support every day.
- Plan and deliver engaging marketing campaigns for individual giving, corporate partnerships, and crowdfunding campaigns.
- Develop compelling fundraising content including social media, web pages, and email campaigns.
- Design and manage landing pages for donations and supporter engagement to drive online giving.
- Promoting Our Family Support Services & Community Outreach
- Create and deliver marketing materials and campaigns to promote Gingerbread Family Support’s new Family Support and Outreach services across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Moorlands, and Newcastle-under-Lyme.
- Develop targeted campaigns that ensure both families in need and referral professionals are aware of our support services.
- Collaborate with service delivery teams to ensure marketing accurately represents our work and reaches the right audiences.
- Internal Communications
- Improve internal communications to ensure all staff, volunteers, and trustees are well-informed about Gingerbread work.
- Develop staff updates, newsletters, and internal campaigns that highlight organisational, service, and fundraising successes.
- Ensure the whole team feels engaged and part of the wider mission of The Gingerbread Centre.
- Content Creation & Storytelling
- Work closely with service delivery teams to capture the essence of our work and tell compelling stories of families we support (ethically and sensitively).
- Create engaging, high-quality content across social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok), press releases, impact reports, fundraising appeals, and donor newsletters.
- Ensure all content is trauma-informed, protecting the dignity of the families we support.
- Manage social media channels, including Facebook (public), LinkedIn (professional), and develop our presence on Instagram and TikTok.
- Monitor digital analytics and use data to optimise engagement and improve content reach.
- Create paid and organic social media campaigns to boost awareness and fundraising.
- Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement
- Build relationships with local authorities, funders, businesses, and community partners.
- Promote fundraising events and networking opportunities to strengthen partnerships.
