The Staff Nurse role involves delivering safe, effective and well managed clinical care across the home. This includes supporting residents with a range of needs across nursing, residential and dementia care. The role is both clinical and practical. This includes administering medication, completing and reviewing care plans, monitoring changes in residents’ physical and mental health and ensuring care is delivered in line with agreed standards.
Staff Nurses work closely with the wider team throughout the shift, supporting care staff, sharing information and helping to maintain a consistent and organised approach to care. The ability to make sound clinical decisions and respond appropriately to changing needs is essential.
There is also regular interaction with families and external professionals, ensuring communication is clear, accurate and professional at all times.
A Registered Nurse qualification (RGN or RMN) with an active NMC PIN is essential. Previous experience in a care home setting is beneficial, but not required. Strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail and a calm, organised approach are important. The role requires someone who works well within a team and is confident in delivering and maintaining a good standard of care.
